Star Wars Campaign - Corellian Conflict - Recruitment stage

#21

Yup, got mine scribbled down on there.

#22

So… I’ve read the rules in my lunch break… but I barely know one end of a Star Destroyer from the other, so apologies in advance for the rookie mistakes!

Looks very similar to X-Wing but with another layer of abstraction.

#23

Its not too dissimilar - but the BIG difference to bear in mind is that you Shoot First and Then move.

Cant tell you how many people get caught out by that when they first start.

Equally, Fighters - on the whole - Move OR Shoot in a turn, but not both. (though there is a major exception to this with the squadron command and the Rogue ability)

But I wouldn’t worry too much, Scotty and Jon know what they’re doing, and Dave and I will be on hand to ask questions to as well

#24

Well, the nasty bit of the Star Destroyer is the pointy end. Hows that for a start? Don’t worry, we’ll keep you right.

#25

Turns out my repair bill wasn’t as bad as I thought. I have 17 credits left over. Is it worth me / can I donate those to Admiral Davebar’s repairs? … Otherwise I may end up spending it on Yub Nub and/or a bender in Mos Eisley.

EDIT: Just found out that “Yub Nub” translates as “Freedom”… so I guess we are spending it on that regardless!

#26

I was hoping to spend some of my upgrade points on unique additions to my fleet, namely Bossk, Captain Needa and the Supressor title for the Gozanti’s. If any other Imperial players really wanted them let me know.

I think that leaves me 33pts in the bank for future purchases/repairs.

#27

No problems here, Jon.

#28

Yup go for it Lord Vader

Campaign Update: Campaign turn 1 - Struggling against the Dark.

The war for the Corellian system began with an all out Rebel attack against the Imperial base at Corellia itself. The daring raid, led by Admiral Ackbar himself, was systemically repulsed by Lord Vader, resulting in extremely heavy casualties for the rebellion as their ships limped into hyperspace. Several new officers have been commissioned for Vader’s personal fleet, and some of his ships have been newly christened for their actions.

Elsewhere, Moff Jejerrod defended the Froz system from Rebel Infiltrators attempting to establish a new base of operations. Though suffering some damage, the rebels were forced to withdraw with several ships left crippled. Jejerrod’s sector fleet has been reinforced with an additional light cruiser.

In response to the surge in Rebel activity, Selonia was chosen to house a new Imperial base. A rebel fleet led by Mon Mothma was despatched to intercept Admiral Screeds colonial fleet, but despite inflicting heavy damage - including the crippling of an Imperial star destroyer - the rebels were repulsed and forced to retreat. Selonia has now been brought into the Imperial fold.

Many Bothans died to bring us this information.

Hi guys,

I’m unable to make it next week. @Jim_Albins said he’d be interested to fill in as Mon Mothjim so long as it’s ok that he picks up the rules on the fly.

Does that sound good?

Don Dopema

#31

Yep, no problem as long as he’s happy to step in

#32

Hi Gareth, just confirming I can make it this Wednesday to step in for Dopey.

#33

Awesome sauce  There are 2 rebel fleets to pick from - Dopey’s mon Mothma close range brawlers, or the spare Rebel fleet which is more of a ‘Mega punchy but please don’t ask us to turn’ list

#34

Cool, having not played this game before I’d have no idea which one is better

Turn 2: The Shadow Lengthens

Admiral Ackbar continued his determined attack on Imperial held worlds - directly leading his strike fleet against the Imperial base at Corfai. However, while passing through a large nebula, the Rebels were ambushed by an Imperial fleet led by Moff Jejerrod. Ackbar’s ship was crippled along with one of the escorting frigates and the rest of the rebels were forced to withdraw after inflicting modest damage.

Rebel reserve forces led by Garm Bel Iblis were assaulted by Admiral Screed as the Empire launched an all out attack on the suspected Rebel base at Nubai. Iblis inflicted massive damage on the Imperial fleet, but were ultimately left all but completely crippled, with only a single ship able to cover the retreat as Screed leveled the Rebel facility and anyone suspected of supporting them.

Elsewhere, a force of Rebel frigates and corvettes attempted to establish a new Rebel base within the Corellian core worlds, selecting the planet Draal for a new outpost. However Lord Vader’s spies became aware of the effort and Vader’s fleet intercepted the rebels. Commander Sato led a heroic effort however, crippling the VSD Insidious and wiping out the Imperial fighter cover despite the ISD Avenger crippling 2 rebel ships. In the end, both fleets were forced to withdraw to lick their wounds, with neither side able to claim true victory.

Empire Campaign points 5
Rebels 0

The Empire continues to strengthen its stranglehold, with significant fighter reinforcement for Jejerrods fleet and multiple upgrades fitted to better engage the Rebel hit and run stratagem. The damage inflicted by the Rebellion has significantly drained Imperial resources however, and progress is slow in order to preserve the fleet assets already in sector.
Rebel forces by contrast have been forced to use almost all their resources just to maintain their existing fleet, with almost no reinforcement or upgrades being afforded by the fledgling forces under the leadership of Ackbar. With the Empire’s grip tightening, drastic actions must be taken to ensure the Rebels maintain the balance

In time, there will be A New Hope.

#37

Nutz - work fiasco again. Regrettably I’m likely to miss this tomorrow. Apologies guys…

No worries - Tim said he’d be around tomorrow so should all be fine

Round 4 Summary

Rebel forces engaged the Imperials en masse in an effort to break through the seemingly impenetrable Imperial defense lines. Rebel fleets engaged the Empire across the Corellian core systems - with an initial diversionary attack on Corellia itself led by Commander Sato. Admiral Screed was in the region conducting repairs and immediately intercepted. Though the Rebel raid was eventually repulsed after suffering significant losses, Screeds own forces were badly damaged in the assault, including the near loss of the Victory class star destroyer Starkiller.

Though Sato’s attack was only barely repulsed, it was merely a diversion to draw away Imperial forces from the true target of the Rebel fleet - the Drall system - A combined Rebel fleet of Mon Mothma and Admiral Ackbar tore out of hyperspace with intent to sweep away Imperial garrisons in the region and claim the system for the alliance. Imperial forces were swiftly scrambled, with Moff Jejerrod calling in all the remaining Imperial reserves to assist with halting the attack. Admiral Motti arrived in system in good time, adding much needed weight of fire to the defense. Rebel forces quickly elected for a hit and run assault rather than facing the Imperials in drawn out combat - with many of Ackbars ships conducting desperate escapes to avoid Imperial gunnery. Ackbar himself was unable to escape cleanly, despite the valiant efforts of his crew and only managed to withdraw after the crippling of his own ship. Despite this, Mon Mothma’s fleet conducted a superb sweeping retreat, launching a volley of broadsides that crippled the ISD Terror and almost killed Admiral Motti, as well as severely damaging the Raider Impetuous. The Rebels lost the battle, but conducted themselves admirably in the process.

In response to the constant Rebel raids, Lord Vader led an attack of his own against the Duros system and its known rebel presence. Circumventing its defensive minefield, Vader’s fleet was confronted by the defense force led by Garm Bel Iblis. The Rebels engaged in a direct head on assault against the might of the Imperial fleet. Despite a brutal gun battle that saw both sides taking massive damage, the Rebels simply could not compete with the Dark Lord of the Sith and were subsequently unable to retreat due to the presence of an Interdictor cruiser. Trapped and under heavy fire, the Rebels were almost destroyed, only able to scatter with their crippled vessels while Vader oversaw the eradication of the Rebel outpost on the surface.

Imperial Victory Point Total - 8
Rebel Victory point total - 0

No new ships or fighters were added to fleets of either side as most fleets suffered extensive damage and resources were required for repairs - however some Imperial ships were able to earn their official titles - including the Interdictor, the Centicore and the Hand of Justice.

Can the Rebels turn the tide?

1 new ship was added, Gareth - I was able to afford a little Gozanti with the repair crews. I’m sure that addition alone is going to keep the Imperial momentum going!
